One of seven 12x12 LOs I made several years ago during a weekly Scripture challenge at another website.
Journaling reads: My verse this week was Psalm 62:1,2 - "Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved." (KJV)
This verse on its face is encouraging and reassuring - simply stated, "I will wait on God to come save me, because He is strong and will rescue me - I will stand firm." This is a comforting thought to someone who is struggling, but the psalmist's meaning goes much deeper than that. While pondering this passage, five words in particular stood out for me. I did a little reasearch in my Strong's Concordance and was enlightened by the Holy Spirit of the true depth and power of what God is saying in these verses..." "Truly, my mind and my heart are silent and still before God, fully trusting in Him...He gives me health and deliverence from sickness and pain; He makes me victorious over the enemy during times of trial and temptation...God alone is my refuge in trying times; He gives me strength to overcome adversity and delivers me from my sin...In Him I may climb high above the circumstances that come against me in life; I may run to Him for refuge and rest...Therefore, I will not be shaken by the troubles and strife that may occur; I will not fall as a result of tribulation, nor will I waver and be doubtful of God's provision, of His love and mercy and grace."
Man-made forts and towers and missile defense systems might be able to give us a measure of protection in perilous times, but all are ineffective without the mighty power of our True Deliverer - the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Run to Him, trust in Him wholly and you will always be safe, in any situation, for any length of time.
Fonts used: Aladdin (verse), Kilroy Was Here (paraphrased verse), Comic Sans (remainder of journaling). The embellishement on the bottom of the page is a stamp of "Ayers Rock, Australia" and is stamped onto a "Rummy Kube" game tile. The little square in the bottom right is a list of the five words I looked up in the concordance, along with their numbers in the book (waiteth, salvation, rock, defence and moved). It's not visible in the scan, but there is a thin green border of cardstock around the whole LO that matches the strip behind the game tile and the matted photo on upper right. Photos were taken August 1996 at the "Will Roger's Shrine of the Sun" in Colorado Springs.
