I used the circle patterned paper to symbolize how I was going around in circles trying to find a job, and then used the Bible verse to point up toward God, which is where my focus should always be~
That’s a picture of me at work as a Clinical Microbiologist and I am actually doing work =)

JOURNALING:
One Sunday at church our pastor preached a sermon about challenging God. The main message was that if you honestly and truly want and desire something; challenge God to give it to you This was a new concept to me, for I had always figured God knew what He was doing in my life and what was best for me so who was I to challenge Him? But God’s timing for this sermon was most appropriate as Michael and I had just recently married and moved down to the San Diego area. I had left all my family and friends and my well paying job at The Hospital of The Good Samaritan. Michael had one more year of law school, so I needed to find a job. I went on interviews at various hospitals, but they just didn’t feel right. After getting to know the area a bit, I knew that THE hospital I wanted to work at was Scripps. So that Sunday after church, I distinctly remember praying to God challenging him to get me the job at Scripps. I have to say I felt rather strange doing so, but I thought what do I have to lose? My interview at Scripps went great, but the Pathologist there said they had other candidates that they were interviewing and I would not know for week if I got the job. Of course the next day I heard from two other hospitals in the area offering me jobs and I turned them down. Needless to say Michael was rather upset(mild understatement) but I heard that still small voice saying to me ~be patient and wait~ Then the next day I got another offer from another hospital and once again I turned them down. Again I heard God whispering to me ~be patient and wait. When Michael asked me just WHAT I was waiting for? And I told him I was waiting for God to answer my prayer. He couldn’t argue with that reasoning =) A week came and went and still no word from Scripps. But it was like God was saying to me ~wait for it…wait for it~ so I held firm in my belief that God WOULD answer my prayer. Ten days after my interview I got a call from Scripps telling me that I got the job. I have worked at Scripps for 28 years, all because I challenged God to answer my prayer, and when I listened, like the loving God He is, He responded most graciously. God is good.
