My grandmother died when I was only 4 years old, but she specifically asked that I be given her bible. I’m not sure if it was because I was the only girl born on my dad’s side of the family in about 4 generations or because she somehow knew I would come to treasure it as much as she did. The items that she left behind in her bible are a true glimpse into the woman that she was that I hardly knew at the time, but came to know better thru those same items. And it has led me to save various precious items in my bible as well. Amazing that a legacy can be shared when a loved one is no longer around….rather like our scrapbooks…no?

JOURNALING:
My Grandmother’s Bible is a treasure trove of family history. She has handwritten the family tree starting with first entry in 1812 and ending with the last entry my birth in 1954.Throughout the various chapters of her bible she kept several items: my parents engagement announcement, her Sobriety pledge to the WTCU, a valentine from my dad when he was 6 years old, a bible study lesson she lead and even a lock of her hair. I’m not sure of the significance as to why the items were kept in certain chapters of the bible, but all of them must have been truly precious and important for her to keep them safely stored in the word of God.

Oh WOW! I absolutely love this! I would SO cherish something like this. I think it's amazing that she kept all of those things in there, especially neat is the lock of hair!
