So here's what I journaled...
Joe and i wanted to get out of the house so we decided to hike to Thunderbird Falls near Lake Eklutna. The drive should have taken us about 45 minutes. However, today it took us about 2 hours. There was a horrible car accident on the highway and we were stuck sitting in a parking lot rather than hiking to a waterfall! Along the way I decided to take some pictures of the grass anf flowers that were growing on the side of the road.
When we finally arrived to the trailhead rain clouds were looming and had been releasing some very unwanted sprinkles. But thankfully it had subsided and we were excited to finally get out of the car and hit the trail. The only problem was that the parking lot (the only one around for miles) required a $5 parking fee that you simply placed in a locked box. Well, we did not have any cash, nor did we have our checkbook.
After all that we had been through to get there, we decided to make the most of it. I ended up taking several pictures of the parking lot to chronicle our misadventure while messing with the camera's settings.
By the time we were on our way home it was after 9pm. We needed something to do so we hoped that Barnes and Nobles would be open. Thankfully, it was still open for a few more hours! We ended up having an enjoyable time lounging in the soft chairs while reading books for free. We walked out of there with a new photography book and a strong desire to not be on that highway for quite awhile.
