The night that Michael asked my dad for my hand in marriage, my mom & I hid in the other room, wondering what
they would say to one another. All we heard was my dad saying ~she's crazy like her mom you know?~ and Michael's reply ~yes I know but that’s why I love her~ Mom and I totally cracked up! See we ARE crazy =) A few weeks later we went to a jeweler and picked out beautiful diamond solitaire engagement ring along with matching gold bands. Money was tight and we didn't have any credit cards, so he couldn't take the rings til they were totally paid off. One night in July, 1978; after I had graduated from my internship and before he headed back to law school, he took me out to dinner at the Pomona Valley Mining Company. Right before our desserts arrived he pulled out the engagement ring and officially asked me to marry him. Of course I started crying and the waiter rushed over to ask if everything was okay. We both looked up at him and said ~everything is perfect~
