JOURNALING:
When I was little, all I could think about being when I grew up was a mommy. My room was filled with baby dolls that I treated with the utmost care. I would change their clothes constantly, bathe and feed them, take them for walks around the neighborhood, they were my little family. Every Christmas there would be new additions to my growing family along with the needed strollers and high chairs. I was happy and content to play house for hours in my room or with my friends.
Around 4th grade I started taking notice of the world around me, what things were made of and how they worked. I got a microscope and chemistry set and spent hours doing all sorts of basic experiments. I thought that I could combine my career of a mommy with that of a scientist and become a veterinarian.
My 9th grade science teacher, Mr. Rianda, totally inspired me to choose a career in the science field. Every day in his class we would work on a new and intriguing experiment. They were like big puzzles just waiting for me to solve and I loved that! He stirred my curiosity and inspired me to learn more. He just made science fun and exciting. And that realization was the first step I took in pursuing my dream of becoming a Clinical Microbiologist.
