JOURNALING:
I have always been a member of the Presbyterian Church USA. I joined the ~Cradle Roll~ when I was born and the minister who married my parents baptized me when I was 18 months old with holy water the Nile I attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and sang in the children’s choir. I was presented with my first bible when I graduated from the primary department to the junior department. When I had my first communion and joined the church, I began helping out with Vacation Bible School, babysitting in the nursery and donating books to the church library.
I had learned by my parents’ example that when you become a member of a church, you make a commitment to it to give of your time, your talent and your tithe. It’s a lesson that I still follow today.
Bible Verse:
If you put these instructions before you, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have followed…Command and teach these things. Let no one despise your youth, but set an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Till I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands upon you. Practice these duties, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; hold to that, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. 1 Timothy 4: 6-16
