Journaling: I remember the day that we went to the hospital to wait for your arrival. I was so happy you were coming, but I was scared for you and your mommy. I really love your mommy and it wasn’t that long ago that I remember her being a baby. It was a little surreal that she was old enough to have a child, much less experience the tough situation she was in with the preeclampsia and your early delivery. I spent the time in the waiting room imagining what it would be like when you finally were here with us. I had no idea. I waited in the operating room hallway (along with scores of others), waiting for a chance to see you. The nurses came out, but you were so tiny and wrapped up and they were moving so fast, I didn’t catch one glimpse. And from that moment until months later, I didn’t lay my eyes on you. You spent your time in the NICU with your mom and dad and your grammy and your paw-paw visiting you. I saw lots pictures of you, but it was so unreal that you were so tiny. But bit by bit, you grew and came home. You were so cute. Now fast forward to your second birthday. Here you are, sleeping right before your birthday party. It’s rare that there is a moment that you are still, so I happily captured you sleeping. You are such an amazing little boy, filled with personality and intelligence. All those delays that we were worried about are vanishing. I am so proud to be your aunt, and I pray that you will grow into a successful, loving and happy young man. I’m so excited to watch you grow up!
