Journaling: "I have always known I was adopted. It was never kept from me, but was celebrated as a miracle in bringing me to my parents. For a few years, since having my own children, I have wanted to find my birth mother, just to tell her “Thank You.”
In early October 2009 I came across the email address of a woman, Amy Burt, who helped adoptees find their birth mothers. I figured it was worth a shot and emailed her the information I knew about my birth mother. That night, less than 24 hours later, there was an email in my inbox saying she thought she had located my birth mother and gave me a link to her Facebook page. I sent this lady, a complete stranger, a
letter asking if she had given a baby up for adoption in 1980. She emailed me back and said she had, and after a day of messaging back and forth we determined she really was my birth mother. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad I now have the opportunity to get to know her and to tell her “Thanks.”
Gary, Evan and I met her for the first time, in person, on November 6, 2009. Nice to finally meet you, Meg."
