I WONDER WHAT MY GRANDMA WOULD HAVE SAID, if she saw me stitching together paper with her bellowed sewing machine?!?

I hope she would have smiled - and then told me she didn't know the machine could do that. Before she, for sure, would have reminded me about the curtains that’s missing in my new home - a much more important task to fix than any scrapbook related project if her voice counted.

This summer Grandma told me she wanted me to have the old sewing machine, she hoped I could find some use for it. And so I did. This Friday mom and dad brought it to our house. A really old Singer. I love the look of it and the fact that it actually works. I don’t care if it only sews straight stitches, when I think of all the times my Grandma pulled it out and made something new or repaired an item. She used it A LOT and had it for a long long while.

So much history in that one machine.
When I used it last Saturday I thought about my Grandma and all the times she has touched the machine. About visiting her when I was a child and the feeling of joy and excitement when I got to tread it for her. This mean a lot to me - I fell connected to her - no matter if the material is different. We both love to use our hands to create.
