The girl in the dark coat is my paternal Grandma, Dot Larimore Johnson and the other children are her full siblings. The journaling tells about why I chose the name "Larimore" for my first digital heritage scrapbooking kit available at Heritage Scrap.
"There are only a handful of photos of my Grandma Dot’s childhood and this is only 1 of 2 that show her sister Mary Alice, who died of blood poisoning while in junior high. Surprisingly my daughters look a little big like Alice. As a little girl I would sit on Grandma’s lap and say, “tell me a story about the olden days” and she would oblige, because truthfully, she spoiled me! I didn’t know exactly how difficult the “olden days” were for her, growing up in the depression and enduring the divorce of her parents, being a step child to a harsh man and the death of two sisters. Sadly, Grandma developed early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, probably in her 40s. She died at the early age of 67. All her memories were locked inside a painfully diseased brain, so by the time I could write down the stories of the “olden days”, she was unable to share. Still, these were the early beginnings of my interest in family history, genealogy and heritage photos. It seemed fitting to name my first digital scrapbooking kit Larimore, after her maiden name!"
