The story as I understand it: Our trip to the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest were when I was quite young (pre-Texas). Whether it was dew or rain, the 'forest' was glistening in the sun, brilliant with color. It is an enduring memory. Then in TX mom studied North American Indian culture.
