A "letter to my daughter as she graduates highschool, reads as follows
Suddenly, you are a woman.
Soon you will walk out that door and you won't be coming back.
The years have passed much too fast.
It feels like it was only yesterday when they placed your tiny body in my arms.
The overwhelming feeling of love I had at that moment stays with me always.
Now as you prepare to walk down that aisle,
With your life all rolled up in a scroll,
I can't help but think, Where did the time go?
When the day comes that you leave home,
I will hug and kiss you with a ache in my heart and tears in my eyes.
I will tell myself, this is not goodbye, it is merely your time to fly.
It seems I never got the chance,
to realize how good life really was and let the moment last.
I guess I thought this would never end.
You have become a very strong and capable woman.
I know you will survive out there, you will make it somehow.
Still, the feelings of motherhood remain.
Please forgive me when I worry over your excursions into life.
It seems only natural to want to keep you near and protect you.
I wish I could.
I keep thinking times will never change
I keep thinking things will always be the same
Amy, I love you more than words could ever say.
As I come to terms with your growing up, I miss my sweet little girl.
But, I look forward to getting to know the woman you will become.
As you go on, please remember all the times we had together.
As our lives change, come whatever, we will still be, friends forever.
