For a challenge at Stamp Out Alzheimer's to journal a memory. This page is about my Granny who passed away 1/10/02, less than 2 months after I took this picture.
Journaling:
I remember being a girl, coming to your house when I would get sick at school. You would put me on the couch and bring me Ritz crackers. I always felt so safe in your care. When my first boyfriend broke my heart the day before Easter, you comforted me even though you were in the bed flat on your back because of your degenerative disc disease. I still remember those gentle pats, and I can't believe how insensitive I was as a teenager toforget to comfort you.So it's not a surprise to me that one of my last memories of you is your gentleness. Your precious birds had to be given away, and so Aunt Nonie bought you this singing cardinal figurine. You would kiss it and press the button to make it sing, constantly showing everyone what a pretty bird he was. You were already leaving us in small ways, forgetting who we were, where you were, but your inherent gentleness remained and is what I will forever remember. Last photograph: Thanksgiving 2001
