This is the last photo of my granddad…sitting on his front porch, enjoying the beauty of his gardens around him. And the legacy of his Shasta Daisies lives on in my garden.

JOURNALING:
Of the many things I learned from granddad, gardening was my favorite. I would spend hours with him in his garden, tending to his plants and vegetables. His flower garden was the best! I loved seeing all the beautiful colors and smelling the luscious scents. When granddad died, gram asked if there was anything of his I would like to have to remember him by. I asked for some of his Shasta daisy plants because they reminded me of him and the many happy times we spent together. I am happy to say that those plants followed me from my college dorm room, to my first apartment, to Michael’s & my first house, to our condo by the beach and finally to our current home. Now, every time I am puttering in my garden and I see these beautiful flowers I think of granddad, because memory has a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are and the things you never want to lose.
