Wednesday before dinner I suddenly got this terrible pain in my
tummy - on the lower right side. It felt like gas, so I didn’t say
much and hoped it would go away.Then in the evening it was still
there and it got a little worse.. I went to bed that night, hoping
it would be gone by next morning, but during the night it got so
bad I could hardly sleep at all.. I told my husband to stay
home next day, ‘cause I knew I wouldn’t be able to take care of
the kids. Thursday came and I felt a little better in the morning,
but at 11.05 I descided to call the doctor to check, The answering mashine
told me that doctors office was closed for lunch between 11 and 12, so at
12.02 I finally got to talk to someone, and she said I could get an
appointment as soon as I could get there. I got to the doctor at 12.55 and they let me in at 13.08.
The doctor asked a few questions and examined my tummy before he called the hospital and said
he had a patient with possible acute appendicitis. Then he asked me if I had anyone who could take
me there, and I told him my husband and kids was outside. I was wrong. My husband had gone to
the nearest mall to feed the kids, and I could not reach him by phone - good thing it is no big city!.
I found him and we got in the car and he dropped me off outside the main entrance of the hospital.
A receptionist followed me to the right place and I was examined again. by two doctors - the first
one was actually one year younger than me - I recognized her from my best friend’s class at high
school. I still felt in safe hands, as I knew this was a very bright girl. Then they sendt me to a ward
or first I had to wait outside the elevator for a little while befor they could clear a place for me
in a room with 3 other women. One more doctor came and pressed that spot on my tummy and then
he said : “You’ll be operated tonight” They prepared me and gave me penicillin right in my venes.
I was supposed to get surgery at 07.30pm, but it took a little longer to prepare me, so the last
time I watched the clock it was 08pm - then I fell asleep, and woke two hours later. I got back to
the room at 11.30, and sendt an sms to my husband to say I was ok. Next morning I was told that
if I wanted I could go home that day. And I really wanted that. My husband came for me
after an early hospital dinner and we went to my parent’s house to get the kids - stayed there until
after supper and went home to get the kids in bed. That’s why I’m tired today - today is saturday.
