JOURNALING:
In 1968 when Barry Goldwater was running for president, my mom dressed up as an elephant for Halloween and paraded around the neighborhood to rally support for him. I walked with her canvassing all ours neighbors to make sure they were registered to vote. My mom taught me that voting was not only a right but a privilege as well. She reminded me that my grandmother wasn’t even allowed to vote in her first election, that she along with others of her time fought for the basic right for women to vote. I remember how excited I was the first time I could vote in a presidential election. I felt like MY vote was the one that would change the course of history. When Meg registered to vote, the close election of 2004 reiterated to her that every single vote DOES count. We may not agree on who to vote for, but we must remember to laugh, to dance and above all else we must remember to VOTE!
Bible Verse:
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
