Jacob and Esau's story is very touching to me. Two brothers seperated by lies, deceit, greed, and anger. They lived seperate lives for many years: both of them trying to deal with what had happened between them.
After seeking God for many years, Jacob decided to find his brother in hopes of reuniting. He was so worried about being killed by his brother for what had happened that he sent gifts to appease Esau. Instead of anger and bitterness, Esau ran to him and greeted him with a hug.
It makes me cry every time I read it. The level of forgiveness and grace is truly a foresight of the forgiveness and grace God gave us in Jesus Christ.
This story inspired me to name my son Jacob. I want him to know there is nothing that God cannot forgive. I also want my son's life to be filled with forgiveness and for others.
