JOURNALING:
In 2004, Meg went on a short term mission trip with her church to Uganda to teach at an orphanage in Kampala. There was a lot of preparation for the trip; getting all the right shots, buying mosquito repellent clothing and buying school supplies for the children. She was so excited about the trip that when the day for her to leave came, I was just as excited for her. She called from New York and London, so I knew she had arrived safely. The next day I got an email from her and she had landed in Kampala but her luggage had not. All she had were the clothes on her back and the few items that she had put in her backpack. She was so upset and I was a bazillion miles away with no way reach her. I was so helpless and worried my mind was spinning out of control with all the negative things that could go wrong. That afternoon a friend called to find out if we had heard from Meg and I told her the whole story. I told her that my heart was troubled and I just could not shake the negative feelings surrounding me. Right there on the phone she said to me ~I am going to pray for you both now~ And while she was praying I felt this huge burden lift off of me. Suddenly I just felt at peace and I knew everything was going to be ok. A few hours later I got an email from Meg telling us that her luggage had finally arrived and they were at the orphanage having an amazing time. This trip was a life changing experience for her and my worries were for naught. God’s peace of mind is always there when we need it. We just have to remember to ask for it!
Bible Verse:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you…Let not your hearts be troubled, nor let them be afraid. John 14:27
