The journaling is behind the hinged block that also contains our first photo with Blake while in NBICU.
The journaling reads:
Blake was born 7 weeks early and spent 6 weeks in NBICU. This was a time when I was in complete survival mode. I missed Kim so much I had been in the hospital for over a month before he was born. There were challenges not only now did we have a sick newborn, we were building our home and living in the basement of John's parents home. These were also some of the darkest days of our marriage. Arla told me "hang in these things that don't kill you only make you stronger" By spring 1996 I thought there was hope we had moved into our home but still had lots of work to be done on it. After many trips back to the hospital Blake was growing and his health was improving but then on April 19th my Step Mother Donna was killed in a car accident. Several weeks after that I found out I was pregnant again which I knew my body was not prepared for.
