Acts 2:38-39
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."
In a November 2005 sermon, Pastor Scott briefly mentioned that our church baptismal hadn't been used for a couple years. I immediately felt the Holy Spirit nudging me, and thought Pastor Scott must've said that expressly for my ears. I went home and looked up all the scripture I could find about baptism, and the Lord confirmed for me that I needed to be baptized with water as an act of obedience to Him! What a wonderful way to express publicly my love for Him!
I was baptized by Pastor Scott on March 5, 2006 at Bloomington 1st Church of the Nazarene. Travis & Erin came, and Matt & Carlene, Jacob & Ashley, and all of the elementary and preschool children were in the sanctuary too. I was so happy to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to state in front of the congregation that Jesus Christ has saved me from my sin, and that I strive to live for Him daily.
