This is difficult for me to share, but I struggle with treatment resistant depression. Because of that, I think I have a unique vision about what it means to hope and stay focused. I wrote this poem to let out some of those feelings associated with my illness. Poem reads: It is a dark horse. At first, it comes lightly prancing towards you. It seems to be such a harmless beast. But it can turn on you and trample you in a heartbeat. It’s shadow is deep and can cover you until you cannot see light. You do not know how it feels beneath it’s steely hooves until you see the complete strength of it bearing down upon you. It is impossible to stave off the beast by ones self. It kicks and bites and screams with a devilish snort.

But… with the show of love from another, and a measure of faith, it is possible to see the light shine down and find a path to move out of the shadow of the dark beast. It is possible to reach out with God’s hope and a peace that passes all understanding. It is possible to make it through with His help.

I love how you chose the bright & cheery yellows/blues to contrast the subject of the journaling. From a fellow sister in Christ who also struggles with depression, the poem is right on! Thanks for sharing your heart as well as your talent for scrapbooking.
