JOURNALING:
When early Christians were persecuted this simple "fish symbol" could be scratched in the sand and Christians were able to discern friend from foe.
This symbol contains the initial letters of five Greek words forming the word for fish (IXOYE), which briefly but clearly described the character of Christ and His claim to the worship of believers: Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter, translated : Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior. Seen on the bumpers of many cars today, this fish symbol continues to identify the true followers of Jesus Christ.
