I am thankful for my husband's grandfather. I never knew either of my grandfathers because one passed before I was born, the other when I was much too young to remember him. Because of "Grandpa" I have been blessed to know a grandfather's love and wisdom. I have enjoyed his humor and his stories and even his "set in ways" for more than 20 years. Now he spends his days in a nursing home with "Grandma" visiting him daily. It is obvious, even now in his deteriorating health, unable to speak or to feed himself and strapped in a wheelchair, that they have an amazing amount of love respect, and devotion to one another. At Christmas time, my husband, myself and my children were blessed with a rare smile accompanied by a waving of the hand as we departed. That made up for not understanding the few things he tried to say to us while there. He remembered us and that was worth a thousand words. I am thankful that my children have also been blessed to know his love. ****** 16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so he died, old and full of years. ~Job 42:16-17
