JOURNALING: Seasons of My Heart
In the fall, the leaves on the trees change and drop. My heart has gone thru similar changes. I have looked deep inside my heart and adjusted my ways to a godlier path. And as I changed my lifestyle, I dropped those habits and behaviors I knew were not pleasing to God.
Like the famous Shakespeare line, now is the winter of our discontent, at times my heart was troubled and unhappy. I was restless and dissatisfied with my life. There was disappointment and frustration with me, my family, my work and my heart was truly anxious.
Just like the new buds of spring, my heart learned to bloom and grow over the years. God revealed His promises to mea and hope opened my heart to His new blessings. He nurtured me and my life flourished. My heart matured and developed as He encouraged me to grow in His Word.
Summer means lying on the beach, listening to the ocean and soaking up the sun. Moments of pure peace and utter contentment, and that is where my heart is now. My family and I are happy and healthy. I don’t need a bigger house or more money. I am listening to God speak to my heart thru the bible. I am comfortable with the path that God is leading me on. My heart is utterly and completely content.
I know my life will constantly change from season to season, but striving to keep my heart in summer IS my hearts desire.
Bible Verse:
But godliness with great contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
1Timothy 6: 6-8
