These pictures were taken just a week before my husband passed away from colin cancer in 2002-just 9 months after being diagnosed. When I read this challenge, I knew I had to do a page about the wonderful legacy he left when he went home to our loving Father. We married very young and had 31 blessed years and brought 5 wonderful children into the world and since his death have 3 beautiful grandchildren. I feel him everytime I am with them for each one has been given a part of him.
I found the poem on a website called Authors Den. They have some really cool poems, articles, etc
the poem reads:
Legacy
Oh the whisper of silent dread,
Dread so sweet and yet so sorrow,
As we say goodbye one final time.
To walk with you, be with you,
One last time, down the path to your next life.
We wish you well on your new journey to your new destiny,
May you thrive in this new life and see beautiful pastures ahead,
May your heart be light and your mind be free.
Your life was fulfilling, your heart so light, so fun, so full.
A strong heart you carried, a strong mind to guide you,
Your righteousness your sword - your goodness, your gold.
You were a man who brought his love forth with strength,
In every child left behind, in every grandchild brought forth,
Within this love, your legacy lives on.
To those left behind,
A woman your equal, strong and proud,
A reflection of your years together,
May you love those around you with the ferocity as you loved your husband,
With the ferocity, willingness, strength and determination,
All which you had together and continues to live on,
In spirit, and in everlasting love.
To all those left behind,
To the children and grandchildren,
Look to the sky,, look to one another,
There he lives, there he breathes,
All his strength, all his values,
Live on in you, and will follow you always.
Grow, love, do not forget one another,
Life is a gift given to all, a gift dependent on time,
Time is precious, time is short, time determines life,
Enjoy the time with each other so that you may enjoy
The gift of life with one another,
That is how his legacy will go on.
