Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, my husband Kevin of 6 years, our daughter Amanda who's 4, Fritz the cat and I packed it all up and moved to Texas in March 2006. Prompted by the Lord in February that a move is what our family desperately needed, we listened and 6 weeks later we were on our way. I did my first scrapbook pages in 2001 just after the wedding…and then for whatever reason stopped! In January 2002, our first daughter, Brianna, was born. Sadly she was born with an unknown seizure disorder and would only be with us for 5 short months. To cope with the everyday trials we were faced with, I began to journal. I wrote down every little detail about what was going on in her little world, sharing it on the web for friends and family to see, hoping it would ease the questions we would receive daily. In late 2003 when Amanda was about 8 months old, I was reintroduced to scrapbooking. I began to document Amanda's life as well as Brianna's. At that time, I realized how therapeutic journaling had been for me and vowed I would never stop scrapbooking again! The year 2005 brought another tragedy to our family when our son Jacob was born with the same seizure disorder Brianna had. We were crushed. Questions like, why again? How could He do this? Wasn't it enough to go through this once let alone a second time? So many questions began to rain down on us. Where some might find no strength to walk the journey again, especially after having Amanda who was perfectly healthy, I was able to find some peace in journaling Jacob's daily progress just as I did with Brianna. Through him, I was inspired to share with everyone the ups and downs, successes and setbacks. My journal entries were therapy for me and those that were closest to me. We all have journeys that leave a lasting impact on our lives. These journeys come in all forms and can be happy, sad, dramatic, funny, exciting or a combination of many experiences and emotions. Each journey teaches us a lesson and most often we want to remember as much about the journey as possible. It is my desire to help other people document the journeys that grow them as people. Whether it be one of pain or one of hope, we all have experiences that are a part of who we are and who we will become. What previous or current journey are you going to journal? What about the journey you might help your children journal? Do you know somebody that needs a way to express what they're going through? I invite you to imagine, learn, create, and journal an event that is dear to your own heart so that it too can be passed down for many generations, as well as provide remembrance of happier times, or some sort of healing for the sad ones, as it's done for us throughout our lives. I believe that Faithbooking is another piece to our journey which helps us remember special moments, fears, and happiness through God's eyes which in turn helps me stay grounded when dealt with the ups and downs of life. I am excited to be a part of the Faith Sisters community as well as designer for the first ever creative team. I look forward to the challenges we are given while continuing to learn and grow with each and every one of you! To keep up on my journeys, visit me at http://journeyswithjamie.blogspot.com.
